A few of the details:
Health-centred metal free restorative dentistry
- We don’t use amalgam
- Safe amalgam removal: System designed for clients who request that their amalgams be removed, following a complete exam and open discussion. Our amalgam removal system involves:
- Dental dam tooth isolation
- Sectional amalgam removal - Old fillings removed in pieces instead of being drilled out
- Instrument changeover and mouth rinse after removal step
- High volume suction and copious water
- Mercury scavenging unit in evacuation system to minimize environmental issues
- Immune system support before and after metal removal.
- Some clients pursue this option, either using our recommended general protocol or through the assistance of their own health care professional.
- Restorative material alternatives
- Composite: directly placed white filling that can be used as the final restoration in small to medium restorations.
- Crowns: bonded ceramic full coverage restorations for the definitive restoration of more extensively broken down teeth.
- Inlays/onlays: ‘indirect’ ceramic or gold fillings which can be used in place of composite for ideal conservative restorations.
Implant based solutions
- What are implants?
- Implants are fixtures that are permanently fixed in the jaw. They can then be used as anchors to replace missing teeth or support and retain dentures in a manner that is more secure and long lasting than with any other system.
- Where can they be used?
- A careful evaluation of several factors will determine where fixtures can be placed, but with modern systems, most areas of the mouth can be used for fixture placement.
- What are the steps involved?
Each case is unique and the systems that are available vary tremendously, so this must be discussed on a case by case basis. We work with a team of specialists and technicians to provide the best care possible.
Cosmetic Dentistry
- White fillings: replace dark old fillings with virtually invisible tooth coloured materials
- Tooth Whitening
- In office systems: for whiter teeth in an hour.
- At home: a slower gentler approach to whiter teeth.
- Bonded ceramics
- Crowns: bonded ceramic crowns and bridges match natural teeth and allow dramatic changes to tooth colour, alignment or shape.
- Veneers: thin ceramic ‘facings’ for dramatic changes to relatively sound teeth. Straighten teeth, close gaps, or reshape teeth in as few as two appointments.
- Dental makeovers: use our experience, the latest technology and best materials to get the smile you want. Restore function, aesthetics and comfort. It’s truly amazing what can be done.
Dental hygiene services
- Shona Ferguson, our dental hygienist, is a highly trained and experienced dental professional specializing in the treatment and prevention of gum disease.
- Recall system
- We highly recommend that our patients see the hygienist at regular intervals, the frequency of which is based on individual need.
- Most people can be seen twice a year, but some need more frequent care and others less frequent.
- The frequency that is best for you is based on several factors, and will be determined by the Shona as she gets to know your mouth and recommends a recall interval tailored for you.
